BIRTH PREPAREDNESS AND COMPLICATIONS READINESS

Preparation for birth start immediately you realize that you are pregnant.


1. You must get a bag that you will pack all your needed belongings for delivery inn.


2. Ensure your Antenatal card is available always in your bag.


3. Some items that will be needed by the mother includes:


Night gown or any loose dress. Pieces of cloths. Personal clothing. Panties Rubber ( Mackintosh) Delivery mat Delivery pad. Soaps and sponge Detol Parazone T- roll Chamber pot/ pale Bucket Flask Bread or biscuits with Milo for tea secured for night delivery.


*Baby's Items: Cot sheets Dresses Cap Socks Oil/ cream Towel Pampers Napkins


3. Save some money down for non insured services.

4. Valid and active health insurance card.

5. Arrange with a driver to send you to the hospital if you don't have your own car or means of transport.

6. Get a birth attendance ( Support Person).

7. Make sure you have a current scan done in the last trimester.

8. Get all labs done before you deliver especially HB in the last Month of the pregnancy.

9. Get a standby donor if your HB is low or you are booked for C/S.

10.Shave before delivery.

11. Report early to the hospital if signs of labour set inn.
